American vs. French Portions
Dr. B had been telling me that I had my portion size all wrong--the
french eat much less in each portion, you make too much, yadda yadda
yadda....
Well, tonight he eats his words.
HE made the vinaigrette for the salad.
I told him a "traditional french vinaigrette" is 4 parts oil, 1 part vinegar, some mustard, salt and
pepper.
Simple.
To me, I can envision the finished dressing (which for two people is about, what, a tablespoon, maybe one and a half?)
What does he use for his "parts"?
An EGGCUP.
It took about 4 parts of dishwashing liquid to one part of water to
clean up all the oil.
OY.

He also made a chicken curry with coconut milk and even added oil to the wheat he served it over.
I have eaten so much fat tonight, I will never be constipated again.
Sometimes the recipes get modified a little but the guys do try....be glad that he volunteered to give it a whirl.....I'd be thrilled!
Be glad he gave it the old college try.....I would be thrilled if my husband even knew what vinegratte was!
Yep, I agree- if Etienne ever even tried a vinigrette (or even stepped foot in the kitchen, for that matter!) that would be enough for me to force myself to down whatever he made for as much as it took for him to make it!

Thanks, Claire! Actually, we just received word that I have been approved for insurance with the Kastler Foundation through AXA. Phew! It's a relief to be covered--that is too scary (at least for an American--we're used to hospital "mouchoirs" costing upwards of 65 dollars. Can't quite get a handle on a doc visit only being 20 euros!)
