Actually the melody was originally French! It is based on Henri Salvador's "Mais non, mais non"....
...so you connected it to France without even thinking about it!
(We are off on another road trip today...I have been keeping up with all of you through blogs. Things sounds bit crazy for some and very laid-back for others. I will be in touch soon...xo)
Actually, Henri Salvador's tune "Mais non, mais non" was based on Italian composer Piero Umiliani's original song "Mah Na Mah Na" in 1968. Both Salvador and the Muppets came out with personal renditions in 1969. The Muppets debuted the now famous singing troupe, Mahna Mahna and the Snowths on the Ed Sullivan Show that year. There is an interesting history to the variations of the tune at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahna_Mahna.
This is my Avatar. I get to pick the clothes, accessories and backgrounds, and I can "wear heels" in Paris without my feet killing me. And as a bonus, she never has a bad hair day, or a zit, and all the new clothes are free!!! It's kind of like playing Barbies for 30 somethings. With me is avatar-Lucy. She's almost as cute as the real one!

LOL, Loving it.
A blast from the past but I love "Coup de Boule" better! LOL
I had forgotten how much I missed the Muppet Show! I used to watch it religiously. Hard to get good, quality TV like this anymore.
Thanks for sharing!!
