Quarter Note

Mrs. B the Band Director:
"OK, everyone! Now that we've learned how to play your very first note on the trombone and the euphonium, let's use our "too-too tonguing" and try the notes in #2! These notes are called Quarter Notes. Quarter Notes get one beat each. What does a quarter note look like?"
Note: Expected Answer is "it's colored in, with a stick attached."
Sam the Euphonium player:
"A Golf Club!"

Ha ha, well, he's right! :-)))
Tee hee! Look out for "hole" notes and "balloon" half notes! :)
You know what? When I was learning theory ages ago, that's how I remember what a quarter note was! Tres funny! :)
Sam sounds like one creative kid. You're making me nostalgic for my high school band days. I played the electric piano in the jazz band and the xylophone in the marching and concert bands. Lots of lugging heavy equipment (I marched WITH my small xylo-style bells -- no stupid glockenspiels for me -- which is the reason I have back and knee problems today. But I wouldn't have given it up for anything.
