How to Act Parisian

By playing this game, you can learn many of the expressions and gestures that might confuse you when living or working in Paris. My personal favorite is the Gallic shrug--and when combined with the little "pfft" of air that escapes the lips, you'll really be a pro! (When I finally mastered this one, I was accepted all over the city of light. No lie.)

This game is done by the tourist board in Paris, so it's about as legit is they get. Have fun!

Hey you're back here! Is there something wrong with Dreamers and me?

I do the shrug and I don't even know I'm doing it... the pfft cracks me up everytime. Sounds like a fart sometimes.

Hi, Mrs. B, found your site through Frenchless in France. Congrats on baby Zizou! How did a midwestern girl end up in France??? I shall keep reading.

Oh, this game is too funny! From what I could see, no-one has come up with the only rude French gesture I received during my trip to Paris last year. A lady at the Versailles RER station walking away from me after she told me, unprovoked, to go back to "Bush country" and proceeded to point a finger at her butt. Classic!

A lot of these signs are pretty universal....seen most of them in US too..."lets go" "shut up" and "bad luck" I haven't really seen here. Funny how all of us are really quite similar.

haha, i like those. Whenever I have to do a French roleplay in class, I always go for the Gallic shrug at least once.
